Guanyin is known as the goddess of mercy in Buddism and associated with compassion. Some believe that when they die, they are placed by Guanyin in the heart of a lotus flower and sent to a pure land in the west. Some of the porcelain statues of her have a hand that is removable to store a secret wish or need. All include a depiction of the lotus and feature Guanyin wearing a necklace of imperial jewels, one of the stories believing she was the daughter of a king.
We think she's very pretty, and enjoy her meaning and meditative quality.
