Moutons Toile
This is a rare block printed French fabric from the mid 1800's. A roller was used to create the outline of the pattern and small details, then the colors were all added by hand using craved wooden blocks. A very large scale for block printing, and with 12-15 colors, would have required great skill to achieve. The bucolic scene on the face is paired with a heavy greige Belgian linen reverse and micro welt. Absolutely stunning in person!
